Tetris Planks

Let’s clear this up first.  Your core does not equal “abs.”  You can have a strong core with no ab definition.  Opera singers can manipulate their core to sustain notes, but Pavarotti has no visible abs.  Core exercises, alone, are not going to get you shredded.

Over the last few years, the plank has become the “go-to” core exercise.  Countless articles have been written about them and hundreds of people perform them at the gym every day.

A Geek On a Never Ending Quest of Awesome

I am no one special. I am just a socially awkward ginger kid who growing up loved Hulk Hogan, Captain America, Michael Jordan, and video games. The latter became an obsession later in life and helped me succeed in procrastinating basically every assignment constantly in college.
Growing up I felt like no one really understood me. I had to cloak my geekiness from many of my friends because, you know, jocks don’t do Captain America, StarFox, Zelda, or science type crap. Nope, it’s all sports all the time, right? It’s odd how we constantly as young people put on new tee-shirts trying to see what fits and what defines our identity. Often times hiding or pushing down the things that we are actually passionate or “geeks” about.

I Train for a Purpose

Why do I grind in the gym with the same routine week after week? Why do I have a goal of pull a 400 pound deadlift or fighting the urge to get my squat up to 300 pounds? Why in the world would I want to do this week in and week out? The answer to why I train has changed over the last few months.
